This past weekend we took a trip to Washington DC. Chad and I took the kids along with Nana and Grandpa Eddie. Chad had never visited our nation's beautiful capital before, so we f

it in about as much as we could in two days with two children along. We arrived there late on Friday night and after checking in we went out for a quick dinner at a Irish Pub. On Saturday we set out on a big day of walking! Luckily we had beautiful weather and it was great for being outside all day long. We walked from our hotel up to the National Mall and after taking a few pictures outside we went to the Air and Space Museum. Austin and Chad had a great time checking out all the old planes. I think they could have spent three days walking around there.
We headed back outside and walked the entire length of the National Mall checking out all the monuments and memorials. Austin did really great walking all day and enjoyed being out in the nice weather. Chad did have to do his fair share of carrying and shoulder rides! It was a really busy day! Here are a few pictures from the day...

On Sunday we took the Metro over to Arlington Cemetery and took the tour around there and watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown solider. I think this was Austin's favorite part because later we caught him pretending to be the guard and he was doing a pretty good job. I don't think I have ever seen either of the children be so quiet as when they were watching that ceremony. It's very moving. In the afternoon we headed back to the National Mall and went to the Natural History Museum to check out the dinosaurs! Austin had a great time seeing the T-Rex and all the dinosaur bones! We spent a hour or so there and then we were on our way back home so we could get the kids to bed before it was too late! We had a very interesting, but quite exhausting weekend! It was definitely worth it!
