This weekend we took a nice little overnight trip with our friends Jessica and Kate to San Marino. San Marino is a small country about the size of a city that is in the middle of Italy. I think there are about five of these little Republics in Europe including the Vatican and San Marino in Italy. It was a beautiful little city built into the side of a hill. The streets are pedestrian only and very winding up the side of the hill to the top where there are three really cool towers. There were lots of cute little shops and restaurants lining the streets up and down. Jessica and I treked up the hillside with the three kids who did really well climbing the steep roads and all the steps up to the towers. The kids had a great time walking through the first two towers and we got to see some spectacular views. We really enjoyed the views and watching the kids run around and have a good time together. Here are some great pictures from the tower climbs.

On the Sunday drive home we took a side detour to the beach which the kids thought was pretty cool! They got to play in the sand for a bit and throw seashells in the ocean. We found a little playground that they enjoyed for a bit and then had some lunch before heading home. It was a cute little beach town that looked like it was sleeping. I think if we went back in a couple months it would be a lot more lively, but it was good enough for a little stopover and some lunch! Here we are at the beach in Italy!
