Paris Part UN

We had an AMAZING family trip to Paris at the beginning of September!  We spent three nights in Paris and then three nights at Disneyland.  We didn't want to make the trip too overwhelming for the kids since when we went to London we pretty much ran them ragged!  So, we just stuck to the big sights and rewarded them with a trip to the happiest place on earth!!

We arrived in Paris late on Friday night and went straight to the hotel to get a good nights rest for the following big day.  We got up on Saturday and took the metro down to the Eiffel Tower area.  Our plan was to stay around that area for the day and we had a great time.  On our walk from the metro station to the Parc du Champ de Mars we stopped at a little cafe and had our first crepes.  It was our first taste of Paris and it was delicious!  The kids really enjoyed their special "pancakes".  We had more every chance we got for the next few days!  We headed to the Eiffel tower to make the assent to the top.  The kids were very impressed by the tower and thought the ride up was great!  The views were amazing and we could locate all the great sights from the Arc Di Triupmh to Notre Dame and the Louvre.  Here are some pictures of our Eiffel Tower trip.

We then just wandered around Paris until the evening when we headed back to the Eiffel Tower to see it lit up at night.  It was beautiful and the kids really enjoyed it.  We just laid on the grassy park below the Eiffel and played and enjoyed the nice evening until the Tower lit up and then we headed back to our hotel to crash!  It was a great day!

On our second day in Paris we headed to Notre Dame and surrounding area and ended with the Louvre followed by Hard Rock for dinner.  It was another great day!  The kids were so well behaved in the church and the museum and we had a great time sharing some cultural moments with them.  Notre Dame was beautiful and although we have made it a point to climb most of the domes in Europe we were not able to get this one in.  The line was very long and moving at a snails pace since they only allow a certain number of people in at a time.  So, we didn't get to the top of Notre Dame, but we had a great time exploring the rest of it.  We crossed over the Seine River to the Ile St. Louis to have some lunch and very yummy ice cream!  For lunch we picked up some delicious sandwiches and had a little picnic near the river and then we headed to the famous Berthillon's for ice cream.

After a nice lunch and ice cream break we headed to the Louvre.  We really just wanted to hit the highlights since with the kids your time in museums is limited.  We found a super secret entrance with no line and were able to get into the Louvre without a problem.  It was great!  We headed straight to the Mona Lisa which was crazy and packed with people.  It amazing when you walk up to this little painting and there are literally hundreds of people trying to get a peak.  We were squished in, but it was worth it to get a quick shot of the kids and Chad at the famous painting!  Here are a few pictures from our day.

Nice face Austin!  You're in front of the Mona Lisa you should be happy right?!

After our second busy day in Paris it was time for a little FUN!  The next morning we were off to Disneyland and the kids were in heaven!  Paris Part Deux to follow!
